Welcome to Huntington Builds!
Huntington Builds started the same way most of my projects seem to start:
“There has to be a better way to do this.”
Every product I make came from an actual problem I wanted to solve—either in my own shop or for a friend. A tool didn't have a good place to live. Something was awkward to store. A solution already existed, but it was more complicated than I thought it needed to be.
So I made something.
Sometimes it worked on the first try.
Usually, there were a few more versions involved.
Every Tool Should Have a Home
That's become something of a philosophy around here.
A shop works better when everything has a place, but good organization shouldn't make your tools harder to use. If getting a tool off the wall requires two hands, three knobs, a latch, and the patience of a saint, we've probably overcomplicated things.
I like solutions that are simple: grab the tool, use it, and put it back.
That's the idea behind Huntington Builds.
From My Shop to Etsy—and Now Here
About four years ago, I started putting some of my designs on Etsy to see if anyone else had the same problems I did.
Apparently, they did.
Since then, Huntington Builds has grown to over 1,400 orders and 340+ reviews while maintaining a 5-star average on Etsy.
More importantly, I've met a lot of great people along the way—customers, woodworkers, 3D-printing enthusiasts, DIYers, and other makers. Friends in that community kept encouraging me to build something of my own beyond Etsy.
Eventually, I decided they might actually be onto something.
So, welcome to Huntington Builds.
More Than a Store
I don't want this website to just be another place with an Add to Cart button.
This blog is where I'll share the projects, ideas, experiments, mistakes, and occasional “well, that didn't work” moments that happen behind the products.
You'll find shop organization ideas, woodworking and DIY projects, installation guides, 3D-printing experiments, new product development, and solutions to whatever problem has annoyed me enough that week to make me do something about it.
Some of those solutions will become Huntington Builds products.
Some will just be useful ideas worth sharing.
And I'm sure a few will involve an unreasonable number of prototypes for something that looked incredibly simple when I started.
That's part of the fun.
Let's Build a Better Shop
Huntington Builds is still a small maker business. The products are designed because I actually need them, tested in a real shop, refined until I'm happy with them, and made with the goal of solving a problem—not just filling another product listing.
There are a lot more ideas coming.
Thanks to everyone who has bought something, left a review, sent me an idea, recommended Huntington Builds to someone else, or told me I should finally build my own site.
You were right.
Every Tool Should Have a Home.
Let's build a better one.
