How to Store Track Saw Guide Rails: Wall & Garage Door Mounts That Actually Work
Track saws are fantastic tools.
But their guide rails are also long, relatively delicate, awkward to store, and remarkably good at ending up leaned against a wall behind something else you need.

Whatâs the Best Way to Store a Track Saw Guide Rail?
For most shops, one of the best ways to store a track saw guide rail is horizontally on a wall or garage door with support at multiple points along the rail.
- Off the floor
- Away from sheet goods and lumber that can fall against it
- Out of the way when youâre not using it
- Easy to see
- Easy to grab when you actually need it
- Stored in space that is typically unusable
You can certainly lean a track against a wall.
You can also lean your level against a wall, leave your drill bits in the cardboard package they came in, and spend twenty minutes looking for the 10mm socket.
Weâre trying to do better than that.
What Makes the Best Track Saw Rail Mount?
The best track saw rail mount should securely support the guide rail, protect it from getting knocked around, make good use of otherwise wasted shop space andâmost importantlyâmake the rail easy to grab and put away.
For me, easy access is the part most track saw storage solutions get wrong.
A good track saw guide rail holder shouldnât require you to support a five-, six- or ten-foot rail with one hand while releasing a latch or turning a knob with the other.
Thatâs why I designed the Huntington Builds mount around one-handed access. The retaining spring is built directly into the bracket: drop the rail in to store it, lift it out when you need it.
No latch. No toggle. No extra step.
The Problem With a Lot of Track Saw Rail Holders
When I went looking for a way to store the guide rails in my own shop, I found plenty of solutions. I just didnât particularly like them.
A lot of track saw rail holders use some combination of latches, cams, toggles, knobs, clips, or separate moving pieces to secure the rail.
They work.
But they also mean you are holding a long guide rail with one hand while operating the retaining mechanism with the other. For something youâre supposed to grab, use and put away regularly, that felt unnecessarily complicated.
So I designed something different.
Drop It In. Lift It Out.
The Huntington Builds track saw rail mount uses spring retention built directly into the geometry of the bracket itself.
There is no metal spring. No latch. No toggle. No knob to turn. No separate piece to lose.
The bracket is printed as a single piece with engineered flex built into the design. The guide rail drops into the mount and is retained by the bracket. When you need it, you simply lift the rail up and out.
One handed.
Thatâs especially useful with longer rails. If youâve ever tried handling a long track by yourself while simultaneously opening a latch on the wall, youâll understand why I became mildly obsessed with fixing this problem.
Drop it in. Lift it out. Thatâs it.
Wall Mount or Garage Door Track Saw Storage?
Both work.
The standard Huntington Builds brackets can be installed on a fixed wall or on a garage door, which can be a great use of otherwise wasted shop space.
For a wall installation, mount the brackets securely into appropriate framing or anchors.
For garage doors, the brackets work particularly well on flat-panel doors. We include 3/4-inch self-tapping sheet-metal screws with each bracket for that application.
Sectional garage doors create another problem: a short guide rail may not span two usable metal mounting points. For those setups, a Short Track Bracket can support the rail at one appropriate point. The Multi-Brand, Ridgid, and Milescraft Short Track Brackets are different, profile-specific products. Bosch/Mafell and Ryobi do not have a Short Track version; if two Standard Brackets cannot be installed within the short rail's span, contact us before ordering.
Important: These mounts are designed for fixed mounting surfaces such as walls, garage doors and fixed shop structures. They are not designed for mounting guide rails inside moving vehicles.
How Many Track Saw Rail Brackets Do I Need?
This is probably the question we get most often.
Up to 55 in (1397 mm) on a fixed wall or flat panel: Generally two Standard Brackets per rail.
From 28 to 55 in on a compatible sectional garage door: Generally two Standard Brackets.
Over 55 in: Three Standard Brackets.
Under 28 in on a sectional door: Check mounting-point spacing and rail-specific Short Track availability with the calculator; some systems require a two-point fit check or a contact request.

Which Track Saw Guide Rails Fit Huntington Builds Mounts?
One thing we learned pretty quickly is that âtrack saw railâ does not mean every manufacturer uses exactly the same rail profile.
Thatâs why Huntington Builds offers several versions rather than pretending one bracket sorta-kinda fits everything.
Multi-Brand Track Saw Rail Mount â Festool, Makita, Milwaukee & More
Our Multi-Brand Track Saw Rail Mount fits the common guide-rail profile used by many popular track saw systems, including Festool, Makita and Milwaukee track saw guide rails, along with Powertec, Kreg, Wen, Triton, Grizzly and others using the same standard profile.
For Festool owners, this is especially simple: Festool track saws use the same standard FS guide-rail profile, so our Multi-Brand mount works with the guide rails used by the Festool TS 55, TS 55 R, TS 55 F, TS 60 K, TS 75, TSC 55 and TSC 55 K track saw families. That means you don't need a different storage bracket when you change between those Festool saw modelsâthe mount is holding the FS guide rail.
This makes it a practical choice when searching for a Festool TS 55 guide rail mount, Festool TS 60 guide rail holder, Festool TS 75 rail storage, Festool TSC 55 guide rail mount, Makita SP6000J rail holder, Makita XPS01 guide rail mount, Makita XPS02 rail storage, or Milwaukee 2831-20 track saw rail mount.
Ridgid Track Saw Rail Mount
Some Ridgid track saw systems use a different guide-rail profile. Our Ridgid brackets are precision-modeled specifically around that geometry rather than using a universal bracket with a shim or adapter. They are designed for the Ridgid R48630B track saw system and its compatible guide rail.
Milescraft Track Saw Guide Mount
Milescraft also uses a distinct rail profile on the Milescraft TrackSawGuide 1409 system. Our dedicated Milescraft version is designed around that geometry for a proper fit.
Ryobi Track Saw Rail Mount
Our dedicated Ryobi version is designed for the Ryobi PTS01 track saw and its compatible A73TS01 and A73TS02 guide rails.
Ryobiâs system often consists of two approximately 27.5-inch sections that can be joined into a roughly 55-inch rail, so your ideal bracket configuration depends on whether you store the sections separately or connected.
Bosch & Mafell Track Saw Rail Mount
Bosch guide rails and select Mafell systems use another rail profile. Our dedicated version is designed for compatible Bosch guide rails and the Mafell MT55cc track saw rail system.
The important part is simple: use the bracket designed for your rail profile.
Track Saw Model Numbers & Guide Rail Systems
Huntington Builds mounts hold the guide rail, not the track saw itself, but saw model numbers are often the easiest way to identify what a customer owns. Here are the common systems our mounts are designed around:
Festool: TS 55, TS 55 R, TS 55 F, TS 60 K, TS 75, TSC 55 and TSC 55 K. These Festool track saw families use the same standard FS guide-rail profile, so they use our Multi-Brand Track Saw Rail Mount. This refers to Festool FS guide rails, not the separate FSK cross-cut rail system.
Makita: SP6000J, XPS01 and XPS02 track saw systems using compatible Makita guide rails â Multi-Brand Track Saw Rail Mount.
Milwaukee: M18 FUEL 6-1/2-inch Plunge Track Saw 2831-20 using the compatible Milwaukee guide rail â Multi-Brand Track Saw Rail Mount.
Ridgid: R48630B track saw system â dedicated Ridgid Track Saw Rail Mount.
Ryobi: PTS01 track saw with A73TS01/A73TS02 guide rails â dedicated Ryobi Track Saw Rail Mount.

Designed at Huntington Builds
These brackets started the same way every Huntington Builds product has started: I had a problem in my shopâor a friend had oneâand I wanted a better solution.
The spring-retention track saw rail bracket is a Huntington Builds design.
There are also several authorized makers who are licensed to manufacture and sell our design. Theyâre legitimate licensed sellers, and weâre happy to have our design being made available through other members of the maker community.
Huntington Builds, however, is the original source for the design and the place where youâll find our complete range of track profiles, bracket configurations and colors selected to match the tools in your shop.
Our brackets are available in a range of materials and colors, including both PETG and PCTG, depending on the product and color selected.
Because if your whole shop is coordinated in Makita teal, Milwaukee red or Festool green, I am certainly not going to be the one to tell you that the bracket holding the rail should be beige.
Priorities.
Four Years in My Own Shop
One of the best tests of a shop product is whether youâre still using it years after you installed it.
I installed the original track saw rail brackets in my own shop four years ago, and I still have those same brackets on the wall today.
Theyâve been used, removed from and returned to thousands of times over the years. Theyâre not display pieces or prototypes sitting untouched in a cornerâtheyâre still doing the job they were designed to do.

Huntington Builds track saw guide rail mounts are used by professional woodworkers and makers, including in the shops of Wittworks, Blacktail Studio, Herling Handcrafted, and many others.
Weâve sold thousands of these mounts, and theyâve gone everywhere from small garage shops to professional maker spaces.
Thatâs also been one of the best parts of building Huntington Builds: seeing a little bracket I designed because something annoyed me in my garage suddenly appear on the wall behind somebody elseâs project.
But Theyâre 3D Printed. Are They Strong Enough?
Yes.
Depending on the product and color selected, the brackets are printed in PETG or PCTG, materials that provide the combination of impact resistance, temperature stability and controlled flex that this design needs.
The spring action isnât an added componentâit is engineered into the printed geometry itself.
Weâve run our shop mounts through thousands of insertion and removal cycles, and there are thousands of brackets in use in customer shops. The original brackets in my own shop have been in service for four years and are still working as intended.
A 3D printer is simply the manufacturing method. The important part is whether the product was actually engineered and tested for what youâre asking it to do.
One of Those Track Saw Accessories Youâll Actually Use
A good guide rail storage mount is one of those track saw accessories you donât think much about until you have one. It doesnât change how your saw cutsâit just makes the entire system easier to live with.

Why Easy Access Matters More Than You Think
Shop organization isnât really about making a shop look good for Instagram.
Although Iâll take that too.
Good organization reduces friction.
